New LiveShare Release – Better, more personal than ever

Today, we’re releasing a new LiveShare update that will hopefully make your LiveShare experience more fun and personal than ever! A lot of the added features have been heavily requested from LiveShare users like you, so check out the rundown of what’s new (and be sure to watch the video at the bottom!):

Better, more flexible sign-up and invitations
Based on overwhelming user feedback, now you have the option to sign-up not only via Facebook Connect, but also by email or phone. You can also invite friends who aren’t using LiveShare yet to your streams via email or SMS for added convenience. With these expanded options, this means that now you can share with everyone, without being bounded by a specific social network.

Personal LiveShare profiles
Tap the upper left profile icon to manage your account information, include a profile picture and see all your LiveShare connections in one place as well as the groups and streams you’ve created so far. This also makes it easy for you to start a new stream with any of your LiveShare friends. Don’t forget to link and verify all of your contact information to your LiveShare account so that your friends can find you more easily (don’t worry, this isn’t publicly listed)!

Create public streams
You’re not limited to invitation-only groups anymore – try creating a public stream that anyone can join for big parties, funny memes, etc.! Simply create a public stream on the web, hit share, and send the public URL to your social networks – anyone with the link will be able to access your public stream on the web or on their mobile phone. Once you accept, hit the follow button to add it your Home streams. This public creation feature is currently only available on liveshare.com, and will be added to the mobile app soon.

Lastly, check out these awesome videos of how LiveShare users around the world are using LiveShare! If you’d like to be featured, send us your story to mystory@liveshare.com.

  • Three New Decks Apps for iPad – Apps, Movies, and Flickr

Today, we’re announcing three new offerings of Decks, the iPad experience that let you seamlessly flip through digital catalogues as intuitive decks of cards that update continuously.

We believe content discovery should be a fun and immersive experience. So we’ve taken Decks and applied it to present some of your favorite things – iPad apps, movies, and photos.

Now with Decks for Apps, Decks for Movies, and Decks for Flickr, you can find your next favorite app, pick a movie or DVD to watch, and discover your favorite Flickr shots without the standard (and clunky!) browser experience.

    Here’s the breakdown:

Decks for Apps – Keep up to date on the top 50 free, paid and grossing apps, as if flipping through a digital mail-order catalogue. So much faster and easier.

Decks for Movies – Get trailers for the top movies and see what’s new in theaters, on DVD or Blu-ray, and buy tickets or movies from Fandango, Amazon or iTunes.

Decks for Flickr – Explore and follow photos matching your interests from Flickr by creating albums based on user name, tags, and key words.

What’s also cool about Decks is that it’s powered by the same technology that brought you Discover for iPad – PageKit™. PageKit™ allows us to render dynamic content with a fast and fluid experience on iOS at significantly smaller download sizes, which means more space for the stuff that matters to you.

Plus, this technology makes it possible for us to develop very rapidly – as you can tell by the fact that we were able to launch these three new Decks apps within only two months of our original Decks app release!

Download the new Decks apps in the iTunes App Store or at www.decksapp.com (hit the download button to choose which Decks app you want).

  • LiveShare new release, now with commenting!

Sharing your photos with LiveShare is now more fun than ever with the new commenting feature! Have great, spontaneous conversations around all the funny and memorable moments with your friends by simply adding comments to the pictures in your streams. Every time that a new comment is added by you or your friends, all group members get notified.

The LiveShare version with commenting is also available on Windows Phone 7, and will soon be available on Android. Follow @GoLiveShare on Twitter to get up-to-the-minute updates.

So far, we’ve seen great adoption of LiveShare in the weeks that it’s been launched. People have been creating private shared groups to keep in touch with friends and loved ones in their daily lives, share photos that may be too risque for their entire social graphs, or get everyone’s photos from the group vacation all in one place.

How are you using LiveShare? We’d love to hear your stories and comments anytime – find us on Twitter, Facebook, and liveshare@cooliris.com.

  • Liveshare – Everyone’s photos. At the speed of life.

Have you ever attended an event with a bunch of friends and wanted to easily see everyone’s pictures in one album? Here’s the solution for you.

Now with a preview of our new app, Liveshare (for iPhone and Android), you can snap pictures at cool events near you, watch everyone’s photos flow into one live photostream, and then share the stream on your phone, website or Facebook! What this means is there is no more hassle of everyone sharing separate photo albums from the same event, and having to look through each album separately – instead, you can easily see everyone’s photos in one place.

Liveshare lists a bunch of events from concerts to nightlife to sport games. All you have to do is pick the event you’re at, take pictures, and Liveshare will take care of the rest. At select concert and sporting events, like Stanford Football games, you can even see your photos appear on the big screen at the venue!

This current version only works at selected events happening in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area, but more locations and events will be coming soon! Take a look now for a bunch of featured Halloween parties going on this weekend, including:

Halloween Massive @ The Giftcenter Pavilion, San Francisco, 8:00 PM
SF Halloween Ball @ San Francisco City Hall, 9:00 PM
True Blood Halloween @ Terra, San Francisco, 9:00 PM
Mausoleum Party 2010 @ Stanford Mausoleum, Stanford, 9:00 PM (Stanford Students Only)

The SF Halloween Ball, True Blood Halloween, and Mausoleum Party will have in-venue streaming, so that means the photos you take will show up on a big screen at the party! Also, post your costumes and Halloween photos in our “Halloween Festivities” stream on your way to the parties! Photo-takers will also get a chance to win free tickets to the True Blood Halloween at Terra in San Francisco.

Try it out now, and connect with the community on facebook.com/liveshare to share what you’re doing and see what everyone else is up to – all at the speed of life.
