LiveShare, House of Blues and Never Shout Never want you to Shout! at the Band to win big

The talented Christopher Drew and the rest of Never Shout Never are making a huge splash in the music world. And we could not be happier to be working with them on an exciting promotion.

Together with the House of Blues and Never Shout Never, we are super stoked to bring you a photo contest as unique as the band itself. Imagine if you were to see the band on the street (we can dream right!), what would you holler to get their attention? It could be one of their song lyrics, or a message to one of the band members, or maybe just something that you love. Whatever it is, get creative and crazy and jot down what you would shout to the band. Upload a photo of yourself with this Shout! message to the “Never Shout Never” stream on the mobile app, directly on the band’s Facebook page or on LiveShare.com.

Then share out your photo to Facebook, Twitter or e-mail to get all your friends to like your pic. The person who uploads the photo with the most “likes” will win an exclusive Q/A session with the band along with some super cool band merchandise.

So turn on some jams from their new album – “Time Travel” for inspiration and get ready to Shout! out loud your message to the band!

The new update now has a live news feed. You can now see updates from your friends, new streams you are invited to, and comments/likes on your photos from one live feed. You can also comment and like photos in-line without leaving your feed. This enables you to stay even more connected with your friends and never miss a thing!

We’ve also added more robust geo-location features. This means that you can now explore public groups created in your vicinity by going to liveshare.com on your mobile phone (location has to be enabled on Safari). What’s super awesome about this is that you can share with people in the same context as you, without having to be their Facebook friend or in each other’s contact lists.

Try using these public groups for your next conference, party, or the next wedding you go to, where you might not know everyone who is there, but still want to be able to see everyone’s shared content in the stream. To create a public group, simply create a group on liveshare.com on your desktop browser, and select “public”. This is also possible on Android phones already, and we will be bringing this feature to iPhone soon.

    Get the new LiveShare now!

  • New LiveShare Update for Everyone!

We’re excited to announce a brand new version of LiveShare! This new version has a much more beautiful and simplified home view, which makes the app experience easier than ever. In addition, we have increased speed and performance significantly so that you can snap and upload photos as those moments happen.

Here are three awesome new features in version 1.2.7:

Create public streams (Android and Web only, iPhone coming soon!)
In addition to creating private groups with your friends, you can now also create public streams that anyone can participate in. To create a public stream, just check the “Make this stream Public” box. You can share your public stream out to Facebook, Twitter, or just email them the link, so you no longer have to invite every friend separately and you can publish any content to the world!

    Find public streams around you
Now, you can visit liveshare.com on the browser on your mobile phone to explore public groups created in your vicinity and launch into the app experience to join and participate in them. Try using this at large events like weddings, parties, or conferences, where you might not be friends with all the attendees, but still want to be able to see everyone’s photos in one place!

By bridging this gap between native and web experience, we’re making LiveShare more accessible to everyone – even those without the app on their phones, making LiveShare the easiest way to collect shared experiences anywhere with anyone.

Notification feed (Android only, iPhone coming soon!)
Lastly, we’ve added a drop-down notifications feed so that you can keep track of what’s new in your LiveShare circles!

We hope you enjoy this upgrade for Android, iPhone, and web! As always, let us know what you think in the comments below or email us.

  • Legendary Cooliris Intern Face-Off!

On Friday, the parking lot at the Cooliris office transformed to a battlefield where two interns, nay men, went head to head in a test to see who would be the last one standing. Chugging a gallon of milk, sitting on water balloons, downing a dozen marshmallows – all part of our epic conclusion to the summer photo contest. The contest started the week before when we created a “Summer of 2011” stream and asked our users to upload pictures from their summer into the stream. The person who uploaded the picture with the most “likes” for the duration of that week would get to decide what ridiculous task to assign our two summer interns – Brian and JP. All week they waited with bated breath to see what was in store for them and their emotions switched from fear, to nervousness to excitement. [Stay tuned for a video at bottom]

We had a wide variety of submissions and our winner received over 30 “likes”. We reached out to her for the contest; but unfortunately we didn’t hear back. Some would have taken this opportunity to spare Brian and JP – but we’re not one of them! We put our minds together and came up with an obstacle course that would test their valor. The race was intense and went back and forth; each side would dominate a task only to lose the advantage in the very next one. As we cheered them on and waited to see who would emerge champion, we documented the race in an “Intern Face-Off!” LiveShare stream to make sure we would preserve these memories for posterity.

And finally the challenge ended the only way it could – in a tie! We’re very proud of the accomplishments of Brian and JP. Oh and did we mention that we also have a video of the entire race, that we will be playing on repeat for them? Enjoy :-)

  • MediaCorp and Young NTUC Celebrate Singapore’s 46th Birthday with LiveShare

Today marks the 46th anniversary of Singapore’s independence from Malaysia. Each year this revered day is celebrated in spectacular fashion; with live performances, a parade, an incredible fireworks display and much more. This August 9th we are incredibly excited to be working with MediaCorp and Young NTUC to make this special event even more accessible to the people of Singapore and everyone else worldwide.

MediaCorp has a LiveShare gallery on their website so that everyone can follow the National Day Parade (NDP) all day long. Those at the event can download LiveShare and open the “NDP 2011” stream to take and view live pictures from the event and ensure that no angle from the day goes uncovered.

Since not everyone can be at the Floating Stadium to watch the event in person, Young NTUC has organized an extravagant fringe event for over 15,000 people at the Padang so they can watch all the LiveShare photos from NDP coming in on the big screen. This year’s theme for the NDP is the “Spirit of Singapore.” This very essence of the spirit and pride of the people in this beautiful country is captured through these LiveShare pictures.

From the 5 Act Musical to the show-stopping aerial flypasts to the Red Lions display and gun salute, you can keep up with every unforgettable moment on the MediaCorp, Young NTUC and the xinmsn website as well as the LiveShare app and on LiveShare.com. So today on Singapore’s NDP, you can feel like you’re witnessing history right from the front row of The Float @ Marina Bay!
