  • The All-New Channels Page: Your Cooliris Home Base

Quite naturally, we’re very focused on visuals here at Cooliris. But while I work, I usually have a soundtrack going, whether through my music video playlist on Cooliris or through Pandora Radio. What I like about both Cooliris and Pandora is their generative ability to start with the seed of an idea – a simple artist or show that I’m interested in, a genre or station that I enjoy – and bring me fresh new content that may be a few degrees to the left of what I was originally looking for. It’s one of those clichés about the internet: start surfing on Wikipedia to learn a little backstory about Rube Goldberg and next thing you know you’re reading about Mongol invasions.

So Cooliris’s new Channels page is meant to both help you navigate, and bring you fresh and unexpected content. Think of it as both homepage and portal. Check it out: you can jump into any Cooliris channel, and they’re stratified by Providers, Shows, and Categories, so you have plenty of options to choose from. While checking out a network channel might turn you onto some new shows, browsing LIFE will put a wealth of iconic photos from every era right at your fingertips. You can search for a tried-and-true show and wind up catching that episode you missed or revisit a clip of that hilarious and timely one-liner. Categories offers our broadest channels with the greatest possibility for unexpected and hidden gems: find out about the latest breakthroughs in Sci-Tech, or play some great new Flash games in our Games channel!

Have fun with the Channels page, and be sure to bookmark it. It’s an easy way to bring up an entire Wall of your favorite show or station! As we add new providers and content, it’ll be your one-stop Cooliris launchpad.

  • Fall Premieres on Cooliris

The Fall lineup is rolling out their premieres all this month. Get ready for brand new seasons of your favorite shows, like The Office, Dancing with the Stars, and SNL. Personally, I can’t wait for House: I’m partial to any show with a brilliant but belligerent protagonist, and they’re starting this season with House’s role reversal from doctor to patient.

Thanks to Hulu, all the big names of Fall from Fox, NBC, and ABC will be watchable on Cooliris. Our latest Channel, Fall Previews, is devoted entirely to all the premiere excitement.

Be sure to bookmark these links for Cooliris viewing to easily access all the new shows from Hulu, NBC, and Fox.

    Hulu: http://www.cooliris.com/provider/hulu

    NBC: http://www.cooliris.com/provider/nbc

    FOX: http://www.cooliris.com/provider/fox

Here’s a cool trick: The show title in the description of the video you are watching is actually a link that takes you directly to an entire Wall of episodes from that show! Bookmark these individual Walls of your favorite series and get to them fast!

Every new show means fresh, up-to-the-minute content! Follow us on Twitter for instant updates about new shows that are up.

Summer may be ending, but a new season is just getting fired up. Get ready for a great Fall on Cooliris!

  • New Channels: 80’s Hits and Comedy and Conspiracies

This week we are introducing two new featured channels – 80’s Hits and Comedy and Conspiracies. If you are into big hair and tight pants or just want to get into an upbeat mood the 80’s channel might be your thing. We have selected hits like Jessie’s Girl, Pour Some Sugar On Me, Like a Virgin and others.

Here is the editor’s song pick: Journey Don’t Stop Believing

As for the Conspiracies channel expect the mandatory alien abductions, but also the scoop on secret societies, the Bermuda triangle, the Nazca lines. Just as a reminder to take things with a grain of salt we have added in some comedy.

This video is a good place to start: Deceptive Deceptions

    Enjoy!

  • The Next Episode

Ok, so I’ve seen the Hulu commercials with Denis Leary and Alec Baldwin telling me that they’re aliens, waiting intently for Hulu to turn my brain to a fine slurry that they can suck through a straw on their way to tasty world domination.

Thing is, I don’t mind in the least.

Check it out: there are now well over 30 Channels on Cooliris being constantly updated, including major television networks (with full episodes of Star Trek and CSI!), ESPNHuluNational Geographic, and the NYT. You can visit MGM for full-length movies. The Onion for the best in video satire.

For a full list of our content providers you can visit our Content page here. Bookmark it, because you can use it as a Cooliris hub: from there you can click directly into each provider’s specific Channel in Cooliris. If you’re interested in what we offer but haven’t downloaded Cooliris yet, visit the Content page anyway and click on different providers to see examples of their current offerings.

But what if you DO have Cooliris already, and you just haven’t used it for watching movies and TV shows yet? Well, today you’re out of excuses, because we’re going to walk you through how to do it.

First off, there are our main Channels. Easy enough. You see TV Episodes, TV Clips, and Movies and Trailers menu options, among others. It’s perfect for when you don’t really know what’s on. So you surf. Think of it like browsing a hundred channels between blinks.

But say you know what you want to watch. You want to fire up House and you’re nowhere near a TV (honestly, you don’t need those things anyway “ they’re bad for you). Well, that’s what that nifty Search tab at the top right of Cooliris is for. Type in House and choose Hulu or Blinkx and you’ll soon be up to your eyeballs in diagnostic banter. And look, the Search tab ties directly into Channels as well, so you can ensure that you can find the clever clip that you wandered into yesterday right away, without having to scour the Wall in vain.

The Hulu folks may be evil aliens, but we’re enablers. And that’s almost as wicked.

    Happy viewing.
