How to bring a YouTube playlist to Cooliris

Some users have expressed that they want to be able to take a YouTube playlist and embed it in a Cooliris wall, instead of using an entire channel.  While we are working on a way to do this from the Cooliris Express website in the future, there is a way that you can do it now. Here’s how:

Start out by going to the Cooliris Express Builder. Select your content source as YouTube, and choose your video source to be “From a user”.  Enter the username of the user who created the playlist.

After customizing the wall to your taste, move on to the Publish tab.  You will need to copy the embed code so that we can change it a little bit.

The embed code should look something like what we have below.  We will be changing the highlighted portion of the code so that we only get the desired playlist.

Now, navigate to the YouTube playlist that you want to embed.  You will need to take the file-path identifier at the end of the URL and place it where the XXXXX is in the following link:

http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/playlists/XXXXX

Copy the new URL and place it into the two highlighted regions of the embed code. This will replace the previously highlighted sections of code.

Voila! Now you should have an embed wall with a playlist in it!

Thanks to Tedy Necula for helping us find this.  You can find his blog at http://tedynecula.filmmaking.ro/.
