Featured Cooliris Enthusiast: Jack Dubie

Jack Dubie and friends
Cooliris is proud to honor Jack Dubie as this month’s “Featured Cooliris Enthusiast.” Jack is the second featured enthusiast in our series of posts profiling active members of the Cooliris Community. It’s a small token of appreciation for all of the hard work these community members put into spreading Cooliris around the world.
Jack is a senior at Stanford University majoring in Math and Computer Science. Born in Essex Junction, Vermont (the best state in the union) , he is a Midfielder on the Stanford Club Lacrosse Team. In high school, he played football, basketball, and baseball at the varsity level. In addition to his interest in sports, Jack has always been motivated to work with younger kids. After his senior year, he was a group leader at King’s Kids, a soccer-themed camp for children in Lebanon. Later in Peru, he helped run a week-long camp for children with polio. In addition to running two awesome camps this summer, Jack is starting an enterprise software company in Vermont with some friends. An aspiring entrepreneur, he’s committed to equipping young people with technical skills to change the world. This summer Jack is running a sports and computer camp for kids teaching them how to create websites that utilize Cooliris.

Q: When did you first hear about Cooliris?
A: I first heard about Cooliris at one of Stanford’s job fairs.
Q: What was your initial reaction to Cooliris?
A: Initially, I was really impressed by Cooliris’ smooth scrolling and beautiful user interface.
Q: In what ways have you shared Cooliris with your community?
A: Me and some friends started a sports and computers camp for 9-11 year old boys in Palo Alto called The Boys of Summer Camp (theboysofsummercamp.com). This year I showed the kids how to make simple HTML websites and embed APIs on them. One of the APIs I picked was Cooliris. Most of my middle school campers figured out how to use and customize the Cooliris Express Wall without any help.
Q: What are other’s reactions when you show them Cooliris? What is your favorite feature of Cooliris?
A: People are usually pretty impressed when I’ve gotten the chance to show Cooliris to them. My favorite Cooliris feature is easily the Embed Wall.
Q: Do you have any advice for community members looking for ways to share Cooliris with their own communities?
A: Use Cooliris on your website – it looks great!
