Summer Fun: Spectacular Sand Castles!

As far as summer spectacles go, there are few things more impressive than a towering sand castle. Just this past Saturday, the 18th Annual Sand Castle Competition was held in Amagansett, Long Island, which inspired me to do a search through Cooliris for other awesome sand creations. Have a look at these crazy sand sculptures from contests around the world!

Queen-size Sand Bed

My favorite is probably the the folks who built a queen-size bed out of sand. That must beat lying out on a towel! Also, you gotta love the sand dragon eating the sand castle builder, and the Finding Nemo turtles. Great stuff.

What are your favorites? Let us know with a comment below, or paste the Cooliris URL to your favorite one!

I’m going with the sand bed. What a great idea! But I’m not sure if I’m too down with having breakfast in bed on the beach… Just way too sandy.

I’m sorry that I’m writing this – it has nohing to do with the post abave. Hop for forgivenes. Here it is: I have hundreds of Google bookmarks with blogs and websites that I need to check daily or weekly. Is there a way to get Cooliris to show the sites? It would be absolutely perfect for the job.

      Hi,

Thanks for your comment! And don’t worry about being a bit off topic – it’s no problem. Unfortunately we don’t have a way to directly import bookmarks, but if your sites are Cooliris-enabled, you can launch ‘em in Cooliris and bookmark the Cooliris URL’s. That way you can launch your sites directly into Cooliris really easily. Hopefully that answers your question!

      Best,
      Mark

Oh. That way. It’s a bit of a shame – the possibilities in my suggestion really are great. If one could see a all the bookmarked sites or a full blogroll in your fine picture wall a lot of clicking would be spared! And time. I hope you’ll think about this idea?

    7. Mark Says:

You’re right, that is an awesome idea! I’ll write up a feature request for our programmers so they can think about incorporating it into the next version. In fact, I’ll even go over to my buddy K-Dan’s desk and tell him in person (K-Dan is one of our programmers)! Thanks very much for the suggestion and your comments!
      Best,
      Mark

I’m trying to answer but the Captcha is doing what it can to hinder it. I apologize if this is a double.

Hey, that made me smile, Mark! Thanks! :-) Perhaps one fine day it will be here after all. Then it will be easy to check if people blogged something new, added to their websites or wrote in the forum threads. And if it’s worth a closer study and a click. Because I gave up on email alerts and RSS feed a long time ago. Too much incoming information! :-D

I guess you can’t tell what response your programmers had but anyway – I googled a bit and found this instant screenshot service online. If I could only figure out how to get a lot of screenshots into Cooliris. :-D

It is interesting as a method for development, I think?

This blog post is about Aviary.com that can take screenshots in seconds. I put a space in after the first h in the url in the hope that your spam-filter wont eat my comment:
