PicLens 1.6.3 Now on Mozilla

MENLO PARK, CA, May 2, 2008 – A little over two weeks ago, we launched on our site the first public release of PicLens 1.6.3 with 3D search for YouTube videos. In usual form, we got user feedback, made some tweaks, and just now put our latest and greatest on the Mozilla download site. Pick your flavor and grab your copy of PicLens there from our website now!

Oh, yeah, did I say our latest release is available for both Firefox 2.0 and 3.0 (and, of course, Internet Explorer, too)? You bet!

Video search is a great addition. However, unlike with static images, a video’s thumbnail alone is mostly not useful enough to find something specific or choose between results. You might want to consider displaying the title and length below the frames.

I updated Piclens on Firefox and I was completely blown away the the Youtube functionality. Keep up the great work guys!

I’ve got a couple of questions:

Are you still supporting Safari in Mac OS 10.4.11? It happens to be my browser of choice.

Are other video sites like dailymotion.com being considered?

Thanks in advanced for all your time and hard work!

Sorry for the double-post, but while I’m at it, I’d also like to discuss Previews, which I accidentally installed on my Firefox 2 browser (in the process of getting Piclens), but ended up enjoying nonevertheless. Has work on it halted? I would greatly enjoy having your two brilliant add-ons as part of my experience web browsing with Safari.

Yes, we hope to work on the Safari version again, once we have a chance to take a breath from our work on our Firefox and IE versions (Yes . . . we do have many more features coming!).

In our recent release we’re pleased to able to add the title of videos and images underneath each item. We’d like to add more information but how much and when has not yet been determined. We’re pulling late nights right now for our next big thing. I can’t tell you what that is yet because that would ruin the surprise. But to stay tuned. It’ll completely change the way you experience the web.

Regarding Cooliris Previews, yes, we’re still working on it. In fact, our Firefox 3.0 version is just about ready.

Thanks for positing and for using PicLens (and Previews!)

It’s supposed to work under firefox 3.0 but I can’t install it with ff rc1. Any update is coming ?
Thanks for the update and also for the great job around this immersive images plugin !

    6. Cosmin Calin Says:

when will it be available for the Firefox 3.0rc1 ?

    7. Tsadiq Says:

Great job guys, i love this :D

But, i’ve got a problem ; a question to be true : is there any chance that PicLens could be implemented on Opera ?

I think that’d be great even if i don’t know if it’s possible. But i ask, anyway ^^

    8. Peter Banks Says:

I have set up Cooliris on my Win XPx64 PC but I.m struggling with reliability with IE7. It’s seems better with standard XP on IE6.
I have implemented into http://test.byweb.co.nz and also 2 other pages linked from the address I have just given. No play button to start cooliris, it only works after I have click on an image to load a larger image. Then if I go back to the thumbnail page I see the play images appear over each photo, then away I go into 3D. Also the 2 linked pages after selecting the slideshow link tell me I’m not browser enabled.
